Kingdom Purpose
Discovering the God-ordained Kingdom purpose you were made for.
In Chariots of Fire, sprinter Eric Liddell tells his sister he believes God made him for missionary work in China — “but He also made me fast, and when I run I feel his pleasure.” The line is often heard as a tension: the sacred calling versus the thing you just love doing. Kingdom Purpose starts from the opposite premise. God isn’t opposed to His image-bearers pursuing what delights them — He’s often the author of the desire in the first place.
“Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”Psalm 37:3–4, ESV
A Spirit-directed process, not a personality quiz
This course walks through a defined process for discovering the specific Kingdom purpose you were made for — not a spiritual-gifts inventory taken in isolation, but three layers examined together:
Your Design — your spiritual gifts, natural abilities, personality, unique talent, and core values, taken as a set rather than one at a time.
Your Affinity — what you’re drawn to: your passions, the pursuits you keep coming back to, the ministries that energize rather than drain you, the “mountains” (spheres of influence) you’re positioned to climb, and the vision that’s been forming whether or not you’ve named it yet.
Your Shaping — the raw material God has already been using: your experiences, the people who influenced you, the specific measure of grace and opportunity you’ve been given (your metron), your victories and your failures alike, the milestones and promises along the way, and how all of it has already been forming your identity.
Those three converge into a single mission statement — not a slogan, but a working answer to the question the course exists to help you answer.
Who this is for
Anyone who has finished Kingdom Essentials and reached Session 8’s open question — what is God’s specific purpose for me? — without a specific answer yet. It’s equally suited to someone years into their faith who has never sat down and done this work deliberately.
In development. This page draws on Dave’s existing manuscript, Discovering Your Kingdom Purpose, which lays out the full Design / Affinity / Shaping framework and mission-statement process summarized above. The course structure for the standalone TDP course (how that manuscript compresses into a session-by-session course, and how many sessions) is not yet finalized.
